1907 Facial Hair Survey

In this 1907 version of “who wore it best?” readers got to decide whether some of the celebrity writers of their day (and one philandering count) were more dashing “with or without a mustache.” This was in response, note the editors, to Anglo fashion trends that discouraged whiskers of any sort. Thanks to the wonders of modern photographic technology, the magazine was able to “photoshop” in or out the facial hair in question, making the question that much easier to answer.
